Sugar House Salt Lake City, Utah (Realtor Guide)

Finally, some clarification where Sugar House boundaries begin and end, the neighborhoods, zip codes, and how much it costs to buy a house in this unique area.

Ask any Realtor or Sugar House resident what this area's official boundaries are, and you'll get a different answer every time. As a full-time discount real estate broker, I thought it was time to put these questions to rest and create a boundary map for all my clients and friends. 

After reading this article, you'll be able to explain to all your friends if they actually live in Sugar House or not, how much it costs to buy a house, and which parks are the best for families and which are best for dog owners.

If you want to live in a neighborhood where you can walk to independent shops and businesses, great bars and restaurants, coffee shops, and art galleries, with plenty of tree-lined streets, then Sugar House is the place for you.

The Sugar House Community Council describes the Sugar House boundaries as follows.

The northern border is 1700 S until you reach 1300 E. At 1300 E, the boundary heads north until it reaches 1300 S. 1300 S becomes the northern boundary, ending at 700 E on the corner of Herman Franks Park kitty corner from Liberty Park. Liberty Park is also amazing, but it's not in Sugar House, so we'll ignore it now. 

700 E is the west border until 2100 S when 500 E becomes the western border. Here's where it gets a little wonky. 500 East is the western border which wraps around Nibley Golf Course and zig-zags its way around Brickyard and Tanner Park on the south side, which most residents associate with Millcreek all the way east to Foothill Drive(approximately 2800 E).

Now that we know where Sugar House is located, let's look at what it costs to buy a house here in 2023.

Here is the latest real estate market sales data year to date for single-family homes in Sugar House, Utah, as of May 1st, 2023.

So far, in 2023, there have been 76 single-family homes sold, generating a total sales volume of $49,086,617.

The average single-family home sale price is $645,876, taking 67 days on the market (DOM) to sell.

Sugar house park

Sugar House Park is Huge! Over 110 acres, to be exact. This park is one of the best public parks Salt Lake County offers.

There is a stream that feeds directly into a large pond, amazing mountain views, lots of green space to spend the day with family and friends, a jogging and bike loop that connects to Hidden Hollow Park via a tunnel under 1300 E, an excellent playground, basketball courts, bathrooms, and plenty of parking.

Tanner Park

Let me start by saying that if you don't love dogs, do not go to Tanner Park. But for the rest of us, Tanner Park is amazing! This is by far my favorite park in Salt Lake City, UT.

You'll meet people that have traveled from other counties just to take their dogs to the best off-leash park in Utah. Well, at least the best one I've been to.

Tanner Park has paved jogging, bike paths, and dirt paths that are always filled with dogs and friendly people. A stream runs down the middle of the park, and a swimming hole for dogs (and some humans) is at the turnaround point where everyone gathers to let their pup cool off. Find a rock to sit on and enjoy the chaos. Expect to get dirty. Wet dogs and slobber will be flying everywhere!

Tanner Park also has tennis courts, a baseball field, covered picnic tables, and a modest playground.

 Herman Frank's Park

Herman Frank's Park is a ten-acre park east of 700 E and across the street from Liberty Park. Unless you're looking for a fenced dog park, you're better off walking across the street to Liberty Park.

Dilworth Park

Dilworth Park is located at 1953 South 2100 East in SLC, UT. This is a five-acre dog-friendly park. It's a great place to take your dog for a relaxing walk but requires all dogs to remain on a leash.

Whether you're looking to go for a lazy stroll with a cup of coffee, get the kids out of the house and onto the playground, or looking to challenge a friend on the tennis court or basketball court. This is a great public park to kill some time.

Hidden Hollow Park

Calling Hidden Hollow a park is a bit of a stretch since I have friends with bigger backyards. However, it is a cute green space to escape the daily grind before picking up overpriced produce at Whole Foods. 

However, if you need more time outside, Hidden Hollow Park connects to Sugar House Park via the tree-lined walking path.

Fairmont Park 

Fairmount Park is a short drive (minutes) west of Hidden Hollow and Sugar House Park, just north of I-80 and the Forest Dale Golf Course. This is a midsized public park close to the Sugar House liquor store. The amenities include pavilions, tables, a fireplace, tennis courts, sand volleyball, a swimming pool, horseshoe pits, a large pond, skate parks, a small fenced-in off-leash dog, and lots of green space and trees.

Stratford Park 

Stratford Park is a very small park with few amenities. It's a good place to have a picnic, through a frisbee, or chuck a ball for your dog but don't go out of your way to visit this park. Unless you're only trying to kill a few minutes, keep driving. Tanner Park is only minutes away.
